I thought I would offer some eyebrow shaping tips for women today because having spent so long in front of a mirror tweaking my own brows, I now consider myself a bit of an expert on the subject.

I know just how frustrating it can be to try and get them just right, and sometimes it can be tempting just to shave them off completely and get a permanent eyebrow tattoo. However with a bit of perseverance, you can still get great-looking eyebrows.

One of the keys to success is to determine the shape and size that matches your face the best. To some extent you can only work with what you were born with. So for instance it is hard to turn very round eyebrows into much flatter ones, and vice versa. However you can obviously vary the length and thickness of your eyebrows.

Indeed one thing you should do straight away is decide where you want them to start and end. By drawing 4 thin lines at the ends of your brows using your eyebrow pencil, you can then start tidying them up using your tweezers.

I should point out that you need to make sure that you are using the right tools to give yourself this look. In other words you need to use a quality pair of tweezers to ensure that they do actually remove hairs rather than break them.

The next step is to shape the top and bottom of your brows. It is not generally a good idea to go mad with the top of your brows. However you will often have a few stray hairs, or one or two longer hairs that extend above or below the overall outline of your brow, so these can easily be trimmed down with scissors.

Finally if you have overplucked your eyebrows over the years, or if you were born with naturally thin ones, you might want to use fillers and an eyebrow pencil to fill them in and make them thicker.

This is an art form in itself, but it is worth doing because people like Kate Middleton have made bushy brows fashionable once again.

If you have used fillers before and are never happy with how they look, and maybe feel that they don’t look natural, then trying to grow longer brows is probably the better option.

There are several hair growth serums on the market that will help you achieve the Kate Middleton look, for example, and give you longer, thicker brows.

The best one that I have come across so far is a product called LiBrow because this purified serum not only thickens and lengthens eyebrow hair, but it also contains a tinting agent that darkens the hair slightly as well.

So all is not lost if you currently have pencil-thin eyebrows that are barely noticeable because there are products available that can lengthen and thicken them in just a few weeks.

If you already have naturally thick brows already, then you just need to follow some of the advice above in order to keep them tidy. You also want to ensure that you don’t overpluck them because they don’t always grow back, and you can sometimes be left with bare patches if you are not careful.
