The Anti-Aging Benefits Of Watercress
I have recently been reading about the anti-aging benefits of watercress because the results of a recent study have just been published, and I have to say that I am very surprised at the results.
All of the results appear in this recent Daily Mail article, and the real headline is that 10 out of 11 women experienced dramatic improvements in their skin after eating 80g of watercress every day for 4 weeks.
In addition to improving their skin, this daily consumption of watercress also seemed to boost their energy levels as well.
Here are the full results of this new study:
– 10 out of 11 women saw a visible improvement in their skin
– 9 out of 11 women saw an improvement in their pores
– 8 out of 11 women saw an improvement in the texture of their skin
– 7 out of 11 women saw an improvement in their wrinkles
– 5 out of 11 women reported that red areas were less noticeable
– 5 out of 11 women reported that brown spots were less noticeable
– 3 out of 11 women reported that UV spots were less noticeable
As you can see, watercress seems to be beneficial for all kinds of facial imperfections, particularly with regards to wrinkles, pores and uneven skin.
I guess we shouldn’t really be surprised by this because watercress contains high amounts of vitamin A and vitamin E, both of which are said to be beneficial for the skin.
Therefore instead of buying skin creams and lotions that claim to be effective because they contain some of these vital ingredients, it may be worth buying a lot of watercress and eating it in a salad or sandwich every day in order to obtain the same kind of benefits.
You could of course grow your own watercress if you wanted to, either indoors or in your garden. However you would probably need to grow a lot of it if you plan on eating it every day, like these volunteers did.
Anyway the fact that it not only helps to slow down the aging process, but may also reverse some of the damage that has already been done to your skin, is extremely encouraging.
Once again this highlights the benefits of using natural foods to improve both your health and your overall appearance.
